Jamie Martin, principal
Martin originates from Effingham, where she was born and raised. She graduated from Effingham High School before continuing her education at SIU-Carbondale, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Communications, with a specialization in Public Relations and a minor in debate and creative writing. She later pursued advanced studies at Eastern Illinois University, achieving three Master’s Degrees.
Her career in education has been filled with diversity and opportunism. Martin has taught English, Speech, and Drama, as well as Career Workforce courses at Parkland and Lakeland Community Colleges. During her 20 years in education, she has coached cheerleading, sponsored the Drama Club and Student Council, as well as serving as play director. In 2024, she joined Windsor Jr./Sr. High School as an English teacher, and she now serves as the Dean of Students. She is currently completing her masters in Educational Leadership and will complete the program in May.
In her spare time, Martin enjoys traveling with her husband, Mitchell, and six year old daughter, Eva. The Martin’s favorite places to visit are Memphis, Biloxi Beach, Chicago, and Disney World. The Martin Family can often be seen at Hatchet Sporting Events as well as the bleacher section of Wrigley field because they are avid Chicago Cub Fans and visit Wrigley Field as much as possible.
Martin says she considers it an honor to be a member of the Hatchet community and looks forward to fostering and developing positive relationships between staff, students, and community members.
